About the Connex Foundation Scholarship

The purpose of the Connex Foundation Scholarship is to assist individuals who are exploring the study of skilled trades or multi-site facility management with the end goal of advancing their career in this field. The scholarship serves to promote the multi-site facilities industry by attracting high school, college-level, career transitioning, adult re-entry, and veteran students into the field of study and encouraging their pursuit with financial support.

2024 Scholarships
The Connex Foundation will award scholarships up to $5,000 each in 2024 to individuals pursuing a career in the skilled trades (example: electrical, plumbing, welding, HVAC, carpentry), construction and/or facility management industry. The scholarships will be awarded to deserving Canadian individuals and deserving U.S. individuals.
The deadline to submit an application for consideration is March 10, 2024.

Scholarship Criteria

  • Be a United States or Canadian citizen or permanent legal resident
  • At a minimum, a graduating high school senior or equivalent (GED)
  • Plan to enroll as a full-time student
  • Have a cumulative unweighted GPA of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale
  • Have a history of active involvement in extra-curricular activities, community service, or work experience

Rules for Applying
You must agree to the following terms to apply:

  1. This application must be completed by you (the applicant). Parents, guardians, counselors, teachers or others can only provide information and review the application. If the application is found to have been completed by someone other than you, it will be disqualified.
  2. You are not, to your knowledge, related as a spouse, child, step-child, grandchild or step-grandchild to any individual who is currently employed by Connex Foundation, serving on the Connex Foundation Scholars Committee or sitting on the Connex Foundation Board of Directors.
  3. The data you have provided in your application will be shared with and evaluated by several volunteers and staff members. All contact information is hidden from volunteers, though other identifying information, including your name, will be visible. Volunteers are instructed to keep all student information confidential and shall only discuss applicants with their fellow committee members.
  4. The information provided in this application and any materials that you provide (transcripts, etc.) should be, to the best of your knowledge, true and correct. You must not knowingly withhold or misrepresent any information related to this application.
  5. Your application and all additional materials must be submitted by the deadline of 11:59PM CT, Tuesday, March 10, 2024.
  6. Award decisions and notifications are made on a rolling basis. Students will be notified of the result of their application by April 4, 2024.
  7. Connex Foundation reserves the right to adjust or cancel scholarship awards at any time on a situational basis.
  8. Communication between you (the applicant) and the Connex Foundation will be primarily through email. You must send any email address updates to foundation@connexfm.com and you must monitor your spam, junk or quarantine folders for emails from foundation@connexfm.com or bcowart@connexfm.com.

Types of Scholarships Offered
Scholarships are available for graduating high school seniors, undergraduates, graduates, adult re-entry students, community colleges, and career/technical schools in the United States and Canada.

How Many Scholarships and How Much Scholarship Money is Awarded Each Year?
The number of scholarships that we award, and the amount of each award, varies by scholarship from year to year.

How Much Does It Cost to Apply for a Scholarship?
It does not cost anything to apply for our scholarship. Unfortunately, scholarship scams that cost money do exist. Beware of organizations and websites that charge a fee, guarantee that you will receive a scholarship, or are sent to you through direct mail or email spam.

How will my application be evaluated?
Staff will initially check your application for basic eligibility. Then, our Scholars Committee will review and rate the information in your application, including your activities, academics, and personal statements.

Will I be interviewed during the application process?
During the application process a virtual or phone interview may be required. A submission video is required as a part of the application.

What will my scholarship pay for?
The scholarship may pay for tuition, room and board, books, fees and/or other related educational expenses. This will be outlined in your award notification.

If I already have all the funding I need for this school year, can I defer my scholarship to next year?
The Connex Foundation does not defer scholarships from year to year. Please notify us immediately if you are fully funded for this school year.

Will my scholarship check be sent directly to me?
Scholarship checks are only paid once we have received your required award agreement and all necessary verification documents. Scholarship checks are designated for the student and are mailed directly to your school’s financial aid or scholarships office, which will deposit the check and post it to your student account.
